Love Is In The Air

You’ve probably got a few leads on your desk somewhere that you never had a chance to track down. Most of the problem is that you aren’t exactly sure how to get that new client.

They already have somebody in your industry and you’re not sure if you can sway them over to your side. Here are a few ways to romance a client and give them lines for their soon to be ex.

Let’s Just Be Friends

Every good relationship starts out as a good friendship. Everyone has jumped into a relationship without knowing the person and having a nightmarish few dates only to end up parting ways. While that makes for a great romantic comedy, it makes for a terrible business or personal relationship.

Start by sending an email and follow up with a phone call. Just check on what they need. Most of the time, you’ll get put on the back burner, but that’s not a bad place to be at the moment. When things get strained in their current relationship, they just might call you.

It’s Not You, It’s Me

When romancing someone, it’s important to start with the truth. Let them know what you bring to the table. At the same time, make sure that it’s all about them. You have to show that you are all about customer service and giving the best to your clients.

Before you know it, they’ll be calling you and forgetting about their ex.

We’re Growing Apart

You are a company with upward mobility. This new client is a company with upward mobility. We need to grow together. It seems like they are just leaving their old partners behind. In this day and age, you’re only as strong as your weakest link. It’s better to grow together.

If you give them a good enough reason, they’ll be sending their partner the dreaded, “We need to talk.”

Once you’ve got them on your side, remember to send flowers every once in awhile.
