Increasing Website Traffic

Wednesday, June 14, 2017

When you’re running a business, you find yourself doing all sorts of little jobs that are not exactly your cup of tea. One of those titles is “Webmaster.”

Beyond assigning email addresses and checking your monthly stats, you are probably not getting the most out of your website.

Before you open the vault and start hiring experts, there are a few things you can do on your own, without having a ton of technical ability.

"Drinking Beer On The Job Increases Productivity" - That’s what Mark Twain used to call a “stretcher” and it’s a great example of what you can do.

Writing great headlines can get people interested in what you’re doing. Perhaps you can’t use the Mark Twain approach all the time, but you can find the most interesting point and lead with it.

Be A Social Butterfly - Once you have a great lead, you can place that on all your social media sites. Make sure you include a few sentences of your blog post, but not the entire article. You want the readers to click to go to your site to see the full article. You’ve probably fallen for this same trick time and time again. Now, put that to good use.

Invite Guests - Find local experts or even others in the industry to write blog posts. You never know how many people would be willing to write a blog post for free. If you can throw in a gift card or some sort of incentive, that might even sweeten the deal.

If you don’t know where to look, use Google to find others who are writing about the topic. Email the blogger to see if they’d want to guest blog.

These 3 little tips are great ways to get started on increasing your traffic. You can do all these without spending a dollar.

If you want to get SEO and keyword tailoring, that will cost you a little money, but it might be worth it to see those clicks go up.
